About Me

For the past 30 years I have been passionate about Alzheimer's disease and the impact it has on individuals, families and society.  Alzheimer's has touched me personally and professionally and I genuinely want to find ways in which we can lessen the burden and enhance the moments of persons impacted and living with Alzheimer's disease or dementia.

Professionally, I am a Masters prepared Nurse, and have spent my career working with individuals and families experiencing Alzheimer's.  I was intimately involved in opening and operating a purpose built facility for persons experiencing the middle to late stages of dementia. I was committed to bringing "new thought' to the home and creating an environment that supported and enhanced quality of life with Dementia.

Over the years, I have been privileged to work in many different settings with people in varying stages, from early in the disease progression to the end of life.  I have functioned as a nurse leader in the field of Dementia care and have provided expert consultation to staff, family members and others effected by the disease.  Most recently, I developed standards for end of life care for person's living in long term care and was responsible for putting the standards into practice.

My passion for Alzheimer's disease, and my desire to make a difference in the lives of people living with Dementia, led me to the creation of this blog. It is my sincere hope that we use this blog as a venue to explore simple, everyday ways to live more peacefully, joyfully and lovingly with dementia.
